When premium salon Reed Hair approached us to translate their original branding into physical signage, the goal was clear: the final product needed to radiate luxury and seamlessly blend with their high-end interior.
Having a great logo is only the first step. For physical retail spaces—especially in the beauty and wellness industry—how that logo is manufactured and displayed dictates the entire vibe of the space.
The Consultation: Material & Lighting for the Backwash Area The client came to us looking for guidance on how to physically produce their elegant "RH" monogram and serif lettering. We looked closely at the salon's interior design, which featured a beautiful cladded feature wall situated right in the hair washing and basin area.
Because this is a zone where clients come to relax, harsh overhead lighting isn't ideal. We advised the client to go with a brushed gold finish paired with soft halo (backlit) illumination.
Here is why this specific combination works so well:
-
Textural Contrast & Depth: The sleek, metallic finish of the brushed gold letters stands out beautifully against the organic wood, while the bright halo illumination casts a soft glow that travels down the vertical ridges of the cladded wall, creating a stunning 3D effect.
-
Relaxing Ambience: The backlighting provides functional but soft ambient light for the wash stations, creating a highly inviting and upscale atmosphere perfectly suited for client relaxation.
-
Brand Authority: Illuminated metal lettering immediately communicates permanence and high value to clients as they enjoy their treatments.
